Your money fights aren't really about money.
They run deeper. Much deeper.
In our latest episode of "Let's Get Real," I rip the band-aid off a wound that's been festering in relationships since the beginning of time: the fundamental difference between how men and women think about money.
This isn't just theory. This is reality.
When your partner says "We need to save more" and you think "We're fine," it's not because one of you is wrong. It's because you're speaking completely different money languages.
Here's the raw truth I break down in this episode:
Women approach money from a place of protection. The "what-ifs" dominate their thinking:
What if someone gets sick?
What if we lose our jobs?
What if the car breaks down?
This isn't weakness. It's strength. It's the natural instinct to protect and nurture. But in our financial world, it often gets labeled as "anxiety" or "overthinking."
Men, on the other hand, bulldoze forward with a simplistic "I'll figure it out" mentality. They focus on provision, not protection. Make the money, put it somewhere, problem solved.
Neither approach is wrong. But when these mindsets clash without understanding, that's when the fights begin.
But here's the bomb I drop in this episode:
This divide wasn't created by accident. Our entire financial system was built by white men, for white men. It wasn't designed with women's perspectives in mind. It wasn't built to address the concerns of minorities.
As a Black CFP® who works almost exclusively with women and minority business owners, I see this playing out every single day. The system itself creates the conflict.
Think about it - when I say "financial advisor," who do you picture? A polished white man with salt-and-pepper hair in an expensive suit?
That image wasn't planted in your mind by accident. It's the result of decades of systemic exclusion that's now embedded in how we all think about money.
This episode is just the beginning.
I'm starting a conversation that most financial professionals are too afraid to have. In the coming episodes, we'll dive deeper into:
How women can leverage their natural financial instincts into powerful wealth-building strategies
Why the "nurturing" approach to money actually creates more stability in the long run
Specific communication techniques for couples with different money mindsets
How minorities can navigate a financial system that wasn't built for them
The financial industry wants you to believe you're the problem. I'm here to tell you the system is the problem - and together, we're going to fix it.
This isn't just about money. It's about power.
Understanding these differences isn't just about stopping arguments. It's about reclaiming your financial power in a system designed to make you feel like you don't belong.

Money doesn't have to be complicated. But first, you need to understand why it feels that way.
